Burford Bolt
The Burford Bolt is a community running event set in the scenic countryside on the outskirts of Marlow. The races will be started and awards presented by former Olympian, Greg Whyte, famed for his work with Sport Relief and on the ITV hit Achieve the Impossible.
The event includes a 10km race, a 5km race and a family fun run, catering for a wide range of runners, from the serious club runner, to the complete beginner.
The main 10k race is a scenic mixed-terrain route, with much of the route following the Cotswold way through the surrounding beautiful countryside. The Burford Bolt will take advantage of an active running community in Marlow and the wider surrounding area. This annual event, to be held on Sunday 17th July in 2016, is timed to complement other successful existing runs in the local area, from the Danesfield Dash to the Frieth Hilly, and utilise the growing high demand for such events.
Two experienced race directors, who have previously run a number of events including the Marlow 10k, Wycombe Rye Parkrun, and a number of events in London, with the support of the local community, will provide a warm welcome and a fantastic atmosphere.
Races will start and finish at the ‘Base Camp’ at Burford School, which will cater for runners, spectators and families, who will be able to enjoy food and beverages. There will be activities to keep spectators & participants entertained, including music, sports massage, bag storage, as well as playgrounds, crèche and a bouncy castle for families.
