RUN FOR THE ROSES
VIRTUAL 5K
APRIL 1 - MAY 2
Join us for a virtual 5k to benefit Clark Co Community Services - Run for the Roses. The event will take place on your own treadmill, track, neighborhood sidewalk or roadway. Just be sure to keep your distance from others in accordance with Kentucky Governor Beshear's Covid-19 recommendations.
WHY THIS EVENT? Our goal is to raise money for Clark County Community Services who are experiencing a shortfall in funds due to the closing of their thriftshop - CC's Closet - and due to the increase in people requesting their services as a result of the Coronavirus. We know the Winchester community enjoys their exercise, and what a better way to encourage each other to get out and get active during these trying times!
THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!
RUNNERS - If you sign-up as a runner, you can submit your best time and proof of your run on a tracking app like Mapmyrun, Strava, or personal tracking watch (Fitbit, Garmin, etc). Data must be submitted no later than MIDNIGHT on April 30th to runfortheroses2020@gmail.com to be considered for prizes. Information specific to data/tracking submission will be sent to participants after registration. Winners will be announced on May 2nd.
There will be three overall winners both male and female announced on virtual race day - May 2 on the Clark Co - Run for the Roses Facebook page. In addition, all age group winners will receive a ribbon.
All participants are encouraged to post photos as they train for this event on the Clark Co - Run for the Roses Facebook site. After you register, you will receive more details regarding the race. RACE FEES -
Runners - $25 per participant
Walkers - $25 per participant (also covers members of the family)
PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING MORE during this time of need in our community. ALL PROCEEDS will be given directly to Clark Community Services and used for the purchase of food and supplies needed to continue to provide food pantry items to the community. Our goal is to raise the amount of money they are losing each day with CC's Closet being closed. Please help us reach that goal!!
TEAM CHALLENGE - Invite your friends and family to join you on by creating a team! If you want to create a team, you will be prompted during the registration process to do so. Simply create a name for your team and then share that name with all your friends and family! Your friends and family will register the same way that you did, except they will select to be a part of an existing team. They will then scroll down the team names and then select the team they want to be on. There are no additional fees for creating or joining a team.
