Dunes Learning Center Fundraiser

Crazy Legs Race Series is proud to have a fundraiser to benefit the Dunes Learning Center. For this fundraiser we will be selling the “Dunes” t-shirts inspired by ones worn by Hal Hidgon and Steve Kearney in the 1970's plus many other runner legends in the Da Region. These shirts will be sold for $25 available now through June 3rd or until they are sold out. The shirts should be in next week and will be mail out to you. Dunes Learning Center has suspended environmental education programs on campus. This response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has meant layoffs for their naturalist interns, kitchen staff, and bus drivers plus furloughs and pay cuts for our permanent education and administrative team. Those were very difficult decisions they had to make. The setting provides a unique exposure to a globally significant natural environment and one of the world’s great urban/industrial regions. Students gain new knowledge and understanding about how improving the quality of life is dependent upon our success in sustaining and integrating these two environments.

Indiana Dunes National Park and Dunes Learning Center came together in 1997 to create a public/private partnership that would provide residential environmental education opportunities to students, educators, and learners of all ages. This partnership has enabled Dunes Learning Center to address its educational goals while enhancing and expanding the interpretive mission of the National Lakeshore.
