SISBDTT Virtual Walkathon

The SISBDTT is a parent and patient support group, in existence for over 30 years, representing those affected by inherited blood disorders. We are registered as both a charitable organization and a non-governmental organization (NGO).
Our Annual Walkathon is a fundraising and awareness event that contributes greatly to achieving our mission to enhance the awareness of inherited blood disorders. These include Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Disease, Hemophilia, and Von Willebrand Disease, which are highly prevalent in Trinidad and Tobago.
Approximately 1 in 10 carry the Sickle Cell gene, 1 in 15 carry the Thalassemia gene, and 1 in 10,000 people have Hemophilia.
We know that everyone looks forward to our annual walkathon to meet up (in person!) and have a blast. However, to ensure everyone's safety during the COVID-19 pandemic we're going virtual this year! We invite all members, families, friends, supporters and well-wishers to join us in walking for blood disorder awareness.
This year we pay special tribute to the life and dedication of the SISBDTT founder and technical director, Dr. Waveney Patricia Charles, who passed away earlier this year. Dr. Charles has touched many of our lives in ways that cannot be measured, and her legacy will continue to positively impact the lives of many others!

How to Participate
- Register for the virtual event
- Collect your t-shirt.
- Complete your walk anywhere and at any time between Mon. 16th Nov. and midnight on Monday 30th Nov.
- After registering you will receive an email from Race Roster. This email prompt you to download the ASICS Runkeeper™ app.
- Track the progress of your walk using the Runkeeper app – results automatically posted to raceroster. Participants must walk with a copy of your receipt to collect your t-shirts.
Collect at the SISBDTT Office on 74 Pembroke Street, Port of Spain (Annex at the back of the compound).
