I Run to Cure CF!
Please support my effort to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and its mission to provide the best possible care and ultimately a cure for individuals with CF and their families.
In the last 10 years, significant progress has been made with new medications that target the basic defect for CF. Unfortunately, these medications do not work for individuals with certain uncommon CF gene mutations, and many individuals with CF have advanced lung disease. New treatments for those who do not respond or are not eligible for the new medications, and treatments for individuals with severe disease and approaching the need for transplant are critical to improve quality and quantity of life. In addition, research is needed for individuals with CF who have had a lifesaving lung transplant. Please contribute to the outstanding work led by the CF Foundation locally and nationally. Description
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease found in about 30,000 people in the U.S. causing persistent lung infections and limiting the ability to breath over time. Those living with this disease are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers --all struggling each day just to breathe and live normal, healthy lives.
While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short. By participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, I run to help add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis today.
