Hillstriders March Madness Half Marathon
Registration
The Race event will follow the Illinois Phase 4 guidelines. If the State issues a smaller mandatory limit on gatherings the race will be cancelled. In the event of Race cancellation the participants will be allowed to defer their entry to 2022, run virtually or offer a refund minus the transaction fees.
RACE DAY IS MARCH 14th 2021
Race Start Time is 7:40am
Each Coral will have 5 minutes between start times.
March 14th is also Daylight savings time. Spring Ahead 1 hour!!
Runner Information
You must be able to complete the March Madness half marathon in 3.5 hours or less.
Race numbers are required to participate – no bandits please.
All participants must sign the waiver!
You must be in good health and physically prepared to participate
You must show photo ID to receive your race number and timing tag.
Coaches, baby-joggers, bikes, dogs, in-line skates, skateboards or dogs will not be allowed on the course.
If you attempt to sell your race number, you may be banned from future racing.

Event Location
This year the Event will be held at Cary-Grove park which is next to Cary -Grove high School.
The Event will not be on school grounds and therefore will be no indoor accommodations.
Event Cancellation Information
There is NO alternate race date, We will run Rain or Shine. In case of inclement weather, COVID pandemic regulations , or any other safety issue, the Hillstriders Running club reserves the right to cancel/alter/modify the race/course for safety concerns. For 2021 only, there will be an option to defer your entry to 2022 if the race is cancelled by means of the pandemic or inclement weather. If the participant is not able to participate due to injury or health issues then the standard policy is no refunds or deferrals.
Packet pickup
We are planning to have packet pickup on Saturday* March 13th and Sunday March 14th right before the race.
*For Saturday pickup please refer to the website for location information as it could change before race weekend. Sunday Will be at Cary-Grove Park.
Scholarship Fund (Fundraiser)
In 2020, the Hillstriders Running Club awarded $18,000 in scholarship money to six graduating seniors from McHenry County high schools in memory of Fritz Kauffman. A portion of the fees that are collected are used to fund the scholarship program, any donations above the race fee will directly fund the Scholarship program.
VIP Entries
Due to the COVID pandemic we will not offer VIP entries for 2021.
Course
The March Madness Half Marathon Course is a USATF certified course: IL-14001-JW. For 2021 the last 0.1mi will be modified and the finish line will be in the Cary-Grove Park parking lot. Water and Gatorade will be provided at 2.5 mile intervals and at the finish line. Finish line clock time will be on display for all runners. Washrooms will be on the course at 3, 5 and 9 miles. Strollers, bikes, roller blades and dogs are not allowed on the course. Course will close at 11:35 AM.
Directions
Cary is located on US Rt. 14 approximately 50 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Take US Rt. 14 west to First Street, North on First St. to Three Oaks Road. Cary-Grove High School. 2208 Three Oaks Road, Cary IL 60013
Awards and Swag
If the race occurs, each race participant will receive a Long Sleeve Tech shirt and custom March Madness Half Marathon Medal
There will be no awards ceremony
Overall Male and Female Winners will be awarded
Post event refreshments will be pick up and go as we will limit gatherings after the finish.
