BUMRUN HALIFAX 2021: A VIRTUAL 5K TO GET BEHIND.

Who are we?

Bumrun is a charity that raises awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention. For 10 years, we have organized 5K walk/run events and raised more than $500,000 net for various colon cancer charity organizations. Our funds go toward colon cancer research, enhancing patient support programs for families living with colon cancer, and raising awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention. This year we have partnered with Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN), whose mission is to support, educate and advocate for colorectal cancer patients and their caregivers. Canada has one of the highest colon cancer rates in the world, affecting 1 in 13 Canadians. But if everyone got screened, 95% of deaths could be prevented. Now that's worth running for!

How will this work?

Step 1: Register now.

Step 2: Print posters that will be sent to you by email after you register.

• Take selfies of you and/or your group holding the posters at various locations along your route and Post to Instagram @bumruncanada, Facebook bumrun page or Twitter @bumruncanada, or email them to us office@bumrun.com
• If possible, ask various stores and other establishments along your route to display the poster and then take a selfie at that location. Let us know of the location at office@bumrun.com and we'll add them to this page!
• Complete a 5K walk/run anywhere, anytime before April 25, 2021. Track your time via a tracking app, or however you usually track your time and distance.
  

Step 3: Record your walk/run race time using an app or watch, however you please, and enter your time here. Please note, an entered time is NOT required to receive your SWAG.

Step 4: Live Bumrun Race Day Workout at 12PM Atlantic Time on April 25, 2021. Join us for an introduction by Bumrun Founder Dr. Ian Bookman, a warm-up by Dizonfit, and a Bumrun workout by F45!

Why are we doing this virtual?

As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 situation, we are keeping Bumrun virtual for 2021.

The decision to stay virtual is not one we take lightly, but we must prioritize the health and safety of our runners and volunteers. Furthermore, the City has not yet re-opened Permit Applications for in person events. We remain steadfast in our commitment to raise awareness of colon cancer. In our 10th year, we will continue in our tradition of 100% of donated funds going to support our charities.

Bumrun medal on a lanyard, Bumrun gloves, and a participation recognition certificate sent to you after April 25, 2021.
