My Story…
My kids and I came to The Lighthouse in 2018 after we lost their dad, Trev Mader.
Truth be told, I was not keen to join a group in which we'd be re-visiting our loss weekly, but quickly came to love the supportive environment and team at The Lighthouse.
When you walk in, you are met with warmth and openness in a safe place to discuss the good, the bad and the random topics about your family's grief journey. While there are tears, there are also a lot of laughs among the groups. My kids especially loved meeting other children in families similar to ours, some of which have become great friends and a great resource for additional support.
In the years since losing Trev, I have had friends come to me asking what advice they should give someone who has just experienced a loss in their own family and my first response is always reach out to The Lighthouse.
This year especially I am grateful for the volunteers and financial supporters who make a place like this possible, even during tough times like Covid.
I hope to raise $1,000 to help The Lighthouse keep their doors open for families like ours.
Thank you for considering supporting me in this fundraising initiative, I really appreciate it!
