Jim Walsh Bike Ride for Kids with Cancer
Fundraiser
This annual ride is named after Jim Walsh also greatly known as "Jimbo the Hobo" . He was a near-legendary community fundraiser who, over the years with the support of his family, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various children's charities through a range of events, including bike rides.
Denis Larocque is keeping Jim's legacy alive by hosting the Jim Walsh Bike Ride For Kids With Cancer and this year we are expanding to include walkers as well as riders.
Proceeds are donated to “Help A Child Smile”, a charity that supports children who are battling cancer and helps their families.
Now in its third decade, HACS serves over 1400 families whose child is being or has been treated for cancer at McMaster Children's Hospital. Covering the costs of parking and medical procedures not covered by OHIP and funding day outings to attractions like Wonderland and Bingeman's FunWorx are examples of how they help.
Description of the bike ride:
The Jim Walsh Bike Ride for Kids With Cancer will be a two week long event beginning July 5, where participants ride or walk trails of their choice making it easy and convenient for everyone of all ages to get involved. You are encouraged to send us pictures of your day then join us for an end-of-ride bbq and party at the Knights Hall in Brantford, on Saturday July 17.
Participants get a free meal and commemorative T-shirt! A $100 prize will be awarded to the top riding fundraiser, the top walking fundraiser and the top youth-under 17- fundraiser!
Celebrate with us as we continue to Help Child Smile and honour the legacy of Jim "Jimbo The Hobo" Walsh.

We welcome riders, walkers and cheerleaders to join us July 17th to enjoy family fun, music and food at our fundraising initiative. It all begins at 12 noon at the Knights Hall.
