L'Arche Cape Breton

L’Arche Cape Breton is part of the L’Arche Federation that includes 151 communities all over the world. We were founded in 1983 and we have grown over the past 37 years to include six homes where 26 people with intellectual disabilities live, with those who support them.  We also run day programs that include two used clothing stores, an organic garden, a café and bakery and a summer program for students with disabilities. L’Arche members believe that life, with all of its complexity, is a beautiful thing and that people with intellectual disabilities deserve the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest.  To live out this vision and help to change the reality for people with an intellectual disability, L’Arche Cape Breton focuses on what people can do, not on what they can’t.
