Help Peter raise money

For participating in 2021 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

My Story…

My personal story with the ballet began just before the world went topsy turvy.  I came back from Banff after two years out west for an opportunity to work with one of the world's finest ballet companies.  Two months to the day after I began my journey, it all came to an abrupt halt.

The first several months of the pandemic felt incredibly uncertain.  A lot of friends and colleagues were out of work, struggling to navigate the various support programs and to make ends meet.  Struggling to figure out whether they could survive long enough to return to careers when live entertainment would once again be possible, or whether to move on in search of other opportunities.  I am incredibly grateful to the National Ballet for its commitment to it's staff, and the efforts it undertook to ensure that its dancers, musicians, technicians and administrators weren't left out in the cold.

And through it all, we continued to strive to make art and to engage with the community.  I'm proud to be able to do this small thing to give back.

I am in for "The Whole Shebang" having already run as of October 21st a 5k (my second fastest ever) 10k (PB!) and Half Marathon (my third fastest ever).  On October 31st I will be running the full width of Toronto along the lakeshore.  55km in total, my first ever Ultramarathon distance.  I'll post the time for the first 42.2km here as a race result, but am hoping to raise $550 before the end of the month in honour of my new, longest run ever.

Description

Founded in 1951, The National Ballet of Canada is one of the top international ballet companies with over 70 dancers and its own orchestra. The company performs traditional full-length classics, embraces contemporary work, and encourages the creation of new ballets with diverse Canadian choreographers.

The National Ballet of Canada is proud to be an official charity partner in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge 2021. Funds raised through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge will be directed towards the National Ballet's Education and Community Engagement initiatives.

The National Ballet is committed to education and community engagement for families and youth who may not otherwise experience the joys of ballet. The company has a wide range of age-appropriate programmes designed to engage with schools and children in the GTA and communities across Canada. YOU dance, the National Ballet’s signature programme, is designed to introduce students in grades four, five and six to the world of dance through FREE workshops and performances.

Join us in raising funds for our Education and Community Engagement programme. Our exciting programmes are designed to be accessible to everyone so that Canadians can experience the physical, emotional and social benefits of dance.

Thank you for your support!
