Operation Obstacle

Event: In Coordination with the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs Suicide Prevention Team, Richland Community College presents the 1st Annual Operation Obstacle - The Race to End Veteran Suicide. Each day, 17 of our nation's Veterans die by suicide. Join us for a timed, 2 mile obstacle course race to raise awareness of Veteran suicide. The course is mostly flat and will have between 15-20 obstacles. A few of the obstacles involve carrying/pulling weighted objects a short distance, army net crawls, climbing over barriers, and going over, under and through obstacles. There will also be a fire truck hosing people at the finish line. All participants get a finishers challenge coin and goodie bag with a fan, cooling towel and water bottle. Proceeds will support Richland Community College's Student Veteran's Resource Center. The event check-in, start and finish will be in the Richland Fitness Center parking lot located at the north entrance of the Workforce Development Institute near the RCC Green House.

Awards: There will be recognition and trophies for the top 3 Male & Female Finishers.

Team Challenge: If you belong to a fitness center, organization, business or club (or just a group of friends) and would like to create a team to participate, we also plan to have a Team Challenge at the end of the race with a trophy awarded to the top finishing team. The Team Challenges will include a Humvee pull and tug of war.

Event sign-ups for participants 18 and older on the day of the race will end at 9:30am the morning of the race.
