My Story…
One year ago, I was not at my best physically, emotionally, and mentally. Recognizing the need for self-discovery and self-improvement, I started on a fitness journey. It wasn't exactly glamorous. Most of my initial workouts were walks and at the time, participating in an event such as a 10k was seemingly out of grasp.
Progress certainly was not linear. There were ups and downs but learning to fall in love with the process moreso than the destination helped change my perspective on how to best handle things such as failure and disappointment which has been invaluable to say the least.
Personally, this event represents a milestone in a lifelong pursuit but also serves as an opportunity for me to do something positive for others. Today I have the priviledge and capability of running in this race, yet there are many who cannot due to debilitating cardiovascular issues/diseases. Let's do what we can to help, even if it's just one small step at a time.
