FALL TRAIL RUNNING CLINIC

Join us on the trails every Saturday from October 15th to November 19th, 2022 (six sessions)!

If you are interested in trail running, join us for our Fall Trail Running Clinic. This is a six-week trail running clinic ending just in time for you to run the Prairie Inn Harriers’ Gunner Shaw 10km race and/or the Stewart Mountain 8.8/16km race. Even if you aren’t interested in racing, this clinic can provide an awesome social experience and an excellent base for your own trail running adventures.

There will be a weekly Saturday trail run led by experienced trail runners. We will meet at 8:00am in a different park each week. Be ready to explore local CRD and BC Parks and build your trail running knowledge and experience. As part of the clinic, we will have short talks on all things trail running, such as: trail technique and how it differs from road running, descending/climbing, safety on the trails, gear/10 essentials, etiquette, nutrition and gear. Plus, you will have an opportunity to meet new people and to discover or revisit some of our wonderful trail runs that we have right at our doorstep!

Prerequisites:

• Run Background: You should be running regularly 3-5 times per week, with at least one longer run each week of at least an hour or more (comfortably, at any pace, road or trail). You do not need to have experience running trails to join the clinic.

• Gear: Trail shoes are not necessary but as we progress to more technical trails, you will find that they help with footing and stability. We encourage runners to carry nutrition and hydration on trail runs, and to be prepared to run in all types of conditions and weather.

Schedule: Saturdays from October 15 to November 19th, 2022

Timing: We meet at 8:00 am and you should plan to spend at least two hours with the clinic each Saturday morning. Most weeks we will have a short talk before the run and then head out on the trails, followed by a post-run treat! There will be two route options each weekend, a short and a long course, and a wide variety of pace groups to choose from.
