The Wiregrass Turkey Trot started in 2013 with three local organizations building a family event benefitting local charities. More than 1,400 ran in the inaugural 5K and 1-mile fun run events raising over $20,000. Some years more than 2,200 runners and walkers took the starting whistle.
It’s always a family affair with huge selfie stations, a costume contest, music and fun for everyone. Last year race organizers added a Kid’s Dash for the really little ones. Today the Rotary Club of New Tampa continues as the founding host. AdventHealth Wesley Chapel became a regular host and charitable recipient a number of years ago.
Since 2013, the Wiregrass Turkey Trot has donated more than $332,394 to charities in New Tampa and Wesley Chapel. All Wiregrass Turkey Trot proceeds go to local charities.
AdventHealth Wesley Chapel supports mobile medical units that provide medical care to underserved neighbors in our area. Their effort is assisted by Pioneer Medical Foundation—a regular Wiregrass Turkey Trot sponsor.
The Rotary Club of New Tampa funds 15 to 25 different charities distributing proceeds from the Wiregrass Turkey Trot and other fundraisers during its annual Give Back Breakfast in June. Their local charities include OASIS Opportunities, New Tampa Family YMCA, Heroes Adapt, Joshua House, USF Rotaract, two high school Interact clubs and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.

Kids' Turkey Dash (12 & Under) Closed
Kids Dash bracketed by age group! Kids will participate in age appropriate sprints and will receive a finisher's medal, and shirt while supplies last. Kids will be grouped 3y-4y, 5y-6y, 7y-9y, 10-12y. Kids registering for the 5k are welcome to participate in the Kids Dash as well.
