Help Heather raise money

For participating in 2024 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

In the Fall of 2021, my brother-in-law Luke was diagnosed with ALS, but I have NEVER heard him complain.  Instead, he has approached this journey with:

- creativity - picture his homemade brace that he made out of PVC pipe when the commercial designs failed to meet expectations

- positivity - he recently pointed out how great it is that the design of his neck brace ALSO covers his head and ears, protecting him from sunburn and the noise of farm machinery; and

- advocacy - Luke has met with his legislature to advocate for ALS funding, been named an ALS Advocate of the year, and recently been appointed to the ALS Association Board of Directors

Luke will tell you that funding is the key to research, and research the key to a cure.  The ALS Association funds critical research, as well as support for ALS patients and their families.

If Luke and so many others can face ALS with grace and grit, I decided this year I could put one foot in front of the other on the streets of Pittsburgh to help raise money for the ALS Association.

The last two years I watched as Luke's brother John (also, my husband) and Luke's daughter Laura have all the fun and get all the satisfaction of running the Pittsburgh half- and full-marathons to raise money for the ALS Association.

This year, the Kellys are shaking things up and fielding a relay team!

While double-digit mileage is not in my near future, I can do my biannual Couch 2 5k(+) and run a leg of a relay team for ALS in the Pittsburgh Marathon this year.  My elite teammates include new mama Colleen (also, Luke's youngest), returning runners John and Laura (Laura should be faster this year because she shed several ounces when she donated a kidney last summer), and Laura's brother-in-law Michael - who had NO IDEA what having a Kelly in his family would mean.

On May 5 I will be doing my small part in the fight against ALS - would you consider doing yours by making a donation to TEAM WINNING ATTITUDE?

Thank you!
