O'pen Skiff South Island Champs Coaching Clinic

Join us from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on 20th September for a one-day O'pen Skiff Coaching clinic at Queen Charlotte Yacht Club and experience the joy of sailing an O'pen Skiff! This is a great opportunity for sailors to gain confidence and experience with this fun and exciting boat before the 2024 O'pen Skiff South Island Champs kick off! No bailing required!

$30 per sailor which includes an Annual New Zealand O'pen Skiff Association membership ($30 Value!). Bring your own lunch!

Matthew Rist, Russell Coutts Sailing Foundation Head Coach and Yachting New Zealand's 2023 Emerging Coach of the year, will lead the clinic. Matthew learnt to sail at age 10 as one of the founding sailors of the Russell Coutts Sailing Foundation. He sailed in the Open Skiff for two years before moving into the ILCA 6 and achieved multiple national podiums.

Matthew has coached the current O'pen Skiff World Champion to two world championships over the past two years so he knows a thing or three about making these boats go fast!
