As a respiratory therapist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, I’m leading a group that’s coming together to race for a cause that’s close to our hearts—supporting the Boston Firefighters and honoring the work we all do to keep our community safe.

We are not your typical marathon team. We’re a group that represents the intersection of healthcare workers inside the hospital and first responders outside the hospital—proving that when we work together, we’re unstoppable. This isn’t just about running a race; it’s about running for something bigger than ourselves, for those who risk their lives every day, whether it’s fighting fires or saving lives in the hospital.

This marathon is extra special because it kicks off a month of celebrations in honor of Respiratory Therapy Week. As a respiratory therapist, I’m proud to lead the charge in this effort, and we’re using this moment to honor my fellow respiratory therapists and all the hardworking healthcare professionals who help keep people breathing and healthy—whether it’s in the hospital or on the streets.
