My Story…

Each year, approximately 4,500 people die by suicide in Canada.
The ripple effects of these tragedies are profound—impacting tens of thousands of friends, family members, and loved ones left behind.

As many of you know, my wife Lisa died by suicide on December 26, 2019. In the immediate aftermath, my family received support from the Toronto Distress Centre through an incredible program that connects people who’ve also lost someone to suicide. These peer-led sessions were deeply meaningful as we began to navigate life without Lisa.
The Distress Centre also provides a 24-hour crisis helpline for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts. It’s a vital, life-saving service.

This year, we are also walking in memory of Lisa’s father, Arthur, who died by suicide this past November. We share this openly out of a belief that silence helps no one. By speaking honestly, we hope to encourage others to reach out for help—and to remind them they are not alone.

This September, I will walk alongside others who have been bereaved by suicide to raise money for the Toronto Distress Centre.

Thank you for supporting this important cause.
