🐾 Introduction to Harness Dog Sports – Join Us! 🐾
Hosted by Moncton Dog Runners
We’re excited to announce our Introduction Clinic for Harness Dog Sports happening on Saturday, May 10 at 8:00 AM (weather permitting) at the Gorge Road entrance of Mapleton Park.
🌞 This will be our only intro session before the summer break—you won’t want to miss it!
Whether you’re curious about canicross, bikejoring, scootering, sledding, or cani-hiking, this beginner-friendly clinic will give you a solid foundation in harness dog sports. We always start on foot, as it’s the safest and most effective way to teach your dog new commands and teamwork.
🐕 What You’ll Learn:
You and your dog will begin working together as a team through fun, practical exercises like:
✔️ Starting and stopping in sync
✔️ Speeding up and slowing down
✔️ Passing others calmly and safely
✔️ Navigating distractions with focus
✔️ Learning basic directional cues
We'll also cover:
🦴 How harness gear works
📈 How to safely build mileage
⚠️ Key safety practices when working in harness
🎽 Gear:
We’ll have gear available to borrow during the session. To participate, you’ll need:
1️⃣ A properly fitted harness made for dog-powered sports
2️⃣ A canicross belt with a bungee line or a hands-free leash
Proper fit is crucial, and we’ll be there to help ensure your setup is comfortable and safe for both you and your dog.
💲 Cost: $45 per person
Your registration includes:
✔️ Gear rental for the session
✔️ Clinic participation
✔️ 2025 Maritime Association of Harness Dog Sports annual membership (June 2025 – May 2026)
