My Story…
Me and the old man are running for cancer!! In New Zealand, cancer is the leading cause of death, affecting thousands of families each year. As a health science student, I am committed to reducing health inequities and preventing diseases, which makes supporting the Cancer Society so important. The Cancer Society of New Zealand plays a crucial role in funding research that could help save lives, such as supporting projects investigating biomarkers for the early detection of ovarian cancer. They also advocate for critical health initiatives, like their call for a moratorium on the government's decision to halt the bowel screening age extension programme, ensuring better access to early detection for all New Zealanders. By participating in this run, we’re not only raising funds, but also raising awareness of the vital work the Cancer Society does to improve cancer care, fund research, and ensure more people have access to the support and treatments they need.
