Raise money for Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington
CMHA Waterloo Wellington is working to build a community in which everyone has what they need to live meaningful lives. We build human connections that make it possible for people to achieve their greatest potential. We are dedicated to supporting resilience and recovery – where resilience is the strength to maintain hope and recovery is a journey towards enriched quality of life.
The key to successful recovery is early diagnosis and getting help fast, funds raised through the Shoppers Drug Mart® Run for Women enables CMHA WW to provide life changing service quickly in three key areas:
Women In Crisis – it takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help, women are accessing crisis support a variety of reasons including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, alcohol/substance use and trauma. Our crisis support team works with clients to understand their needs, complete intake and assessment and help navigate the system through referral to appropriate services. Crisis support also helps to divert clients from hospital and police to community based mental health services when appropriate.
Women With Eating Disorders - Comprehensive assessment including time spent with our nurse practitioner, dietician and therapist. Ongoing treatment services to support recovery plan which includes a group-based treatment approach for adults.
Women in need of Early Psychosis Support - Assessment and treatment for women experiencing first time psychosis. Comprehensive assessment including medical screening, medical history and psychiatric interviews. Treatment plan developed with client may include counselling, medication, group activities, family education and support for day-to-day living. The goal is to support the client and family in finding balance life and recovery from psychosis.
When you participate in the Shoppers Drug Mart® Run for Women – Waterloo you are telling the women in your life and community they are not alone, recovery is possible and we’re in this together.
Studies have shown that women are three times more likely than men to suffer from depression, and one in four women will experience some form of depression in their lifetime. This need is being addressed by CMHA Waterloo Wellington so that the women in our region are better supported.
