Mon histoire…
Thirty-five years ago, while deployed to the Middle East during the Gulf War with the USAF’s 401st TFW(P), alongside the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Desert Cats and their CF-18’s, the French Air Force, and our Qatar Emiri Air Force hosts, a large portion of our air base defense was provided by the Royal 22e Régiment of the Canadian Army – the historic Québec-based “Van Doos”. They literally stood on guard for me.

Next month is the Canadian Army Run (armyrun.ca) and, well, I did a thing. I’m participating to support Canadian Servicemembers and Veterans. Will you help me support them back?
This old(ish), long ago Sergeant signed up for the Sergeant Major’s Challenge, two events, a 5K and a 10K. While I *wish* I could be in person in Ottawa for the Run (who am I kidding, I’m registered to walk), I’ll be hiking both, “virtually”, during the month of September here in North Carolina, probably deep in the woods at Raven Rock State Park along the Cape Fear River.
“But Mike, you’re not even Canadian, why?” Because I remember, and I’ll stand on guard for thee. 🍁
