My Story
On May 11, I will be participating in the Sporting Life 10K to honour my young hero, Benjamin the Brave. In early 2022, Benjamin was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a rare condition classified as cancer. Over the course of more than 12 months, Benjamin underwent an intensive treatment regimen, including 25 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and numerous visits to SickKids Hospital. While his medical journey continues, we are grateful and relieved to report that Benjamin remains cancer-free.
For the past three years, Team Benjamin the Brave has participated in this event, successfully raising over $150,000 for Campfire Circle. This organization has been instrumental in Benjamin's journey, particularly through their dedicated volunteers who provided invaluable support during challenging hospital visits. Last Fall, we also had the opportunity to attend a Campfire Circle family camp, witnessing firsthand the extraordinary impact of their camp-based programs. Benjamin described it as "one of the best weekends of my life."
This year, my fundraising efforts are twofold: to recognize Benjamin's courageous battle and to continue supporting an organization that brings light and joy to families during their darkest times. Campfire Circle's work is truly transformative, offering hope and happiness to children and families facing incredible challenges.

For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
