My Story
Hello all,
It's race time of the year! As some of you may or may not know that I lost my nephew Shiven on September 16th 2015, suffering from Brain Cancer (Medulloblastoma) at an early age of 7. In the honour of Shiven, our family has wanted to do something positive for children suffering from Cancer. We have created #TeamShiven and are participating in the Sporting Life 10K Run on Sunday, May 11th, 2025. The run is in support of Campfire Circle, who provides children with and affected by childhood cancer. We have made it a tradition to run every year and have been doing it since 2016.
Campfire Circle has always swooped in to bring more smile on ever smiling Shiven. He was super happy and excited and had many stories to share with us - boating, archery, jumping, making (and eating) s’mores and playing with other kids – just as normal as other kids.
Aptly, this race has been scheduled on Mother’s day and we would like to gift his mother (Yatri Shah) the happiness that made her child happy. Yatri mentions, Campfire Circle (formerly Camp Ooch) “..ensures kids with cancer receive what every child deserves – the chance to be a kid.” Your support in this initiative would really encourage us and help many kids who are battling cancer to attend camp and forget about all the challenges they face.

For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
