My Story
This year’s Campfire Circle 10K run holds a deeply personal meaning for me as I run in honour of my dear friend’s daughter, Sophie. Since December 2017, she has bravely battled cancer, and on January 26th, 2025, we received the heartbreaking news that it has aggressively returned. She now faces a 9cm tumour wrapped around the bottom of her spine, causing immense pain and additional health challenges.
Despite everything, Sophie’s strength and resilience continue to inspire us. Campfire Circle has been a source of comfort and joy for her and many other children, providing support during hospital stays through crafts, movies, and play. Their kindness has made an incredible impact, helping ease pain and bring moments of happiness.
As I prepare to run for Sophie and kids like her, I’m committed to raising funds to support Campfire Circle’s invaluable work. Last year, we raised over $15,000, and this year, and we hope to exceed that. But we can’t do it alone.

Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
