Our story…
I’m SO happy to have this group together running for ARYSE! The organization is such a special one, and does amazing work to support immigrant & refugee youth in the Pittsburgh area.
The team name “Slugalisa” comes from a vacation moment with my children. The team name doesn’t only give a nod to my kids and the fact that I will run this race at my own pace …like a slug…, but also it reminds me to appreciate the small and often unnoticed beauty in life along the way.
Description
This year, our goal is to raise at least $30,000 through the marathon campaign, which will cover the essential expenses for our program like student transportation, interpretation and translation services, hot meals, and personnel. Thanks to donations from hundreds of individuals and local foundations, the program is completely free of cost to participants. Support from our marathon runners and their networks will help us keep it that way.
