For decades, medical research operated under the flawed assumption that the male body is the universal standard. This historical exclusion has left a profound gender data gap, where treatments, dosages, and diagnostic tools are often developed without considering female physiology. This lack of inclusion is not just a scientific oversight; it is a human rights issue. When women, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ women, are excluded from the data, they are excluded from the treatment. Today, the global landscape for women’s rights is at a critical juncture. From the erosion of reproductive autonomy to the disproportionate impact of mental health crises on women, the need for gender-specific research has never been more urgent.
