Our story…
We recognize that in the world of research, a "significant figure" is more than just a data point—it represents lives lived. We are women in research coming together to bridge the gap between the lab and the lived experience of women globally. For decades, medical research operated under the flawed assumption that the male body is the universal standard. This historical exclusion has left a profound gender data gap, where treatments, dosages, and diagnostic tools are often developed without considering female physiology. This lack of inclusion is not just a scientific oversight; it is a human rights issue. When women, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ women, are excluded from the data, they are excluded from the treatment. Today, the global landscape for women’s rights is at a critical juncture. From the erosion of reproductive autonomy to the disproportionate impact of mental health crises on women, the need for gender-specific research has never been more urgent.
