In November 2023, at 28 years old, I heard the words no one expects to hear: “You have breast cancer.”

In an instant, life changed. Plans were replaced with appointments, treatment schedules, and difficult decisions as I faced challenges I never imagined navigating.

In December 2023, I began chemotherapy. For six months, treatment became part of my daily life, bringing moments of fear, uncertainty, and resilience. One of the hardest parts was trying to hold on to pieces of myself while so much felt out of my control. I used cold caps throughout treatment to help preserve my hair, and my mom and aunt were by my side through every session, offering unwavering support and reminding me that I wasn’t facing this alone.

My family and friends became my greatest source of strength. They showed up in countless ways, helping me through the difficult days and celebrating every victory along the way.

On June 26, 2024, I underwent a double mastectomy. Recovery was challenging, but it also showed me that strength isn’t always about being fearless—sometimes it’s simply about continuing to move forward.

That’s why this 10km means so much to me. I’m running not only to celebrate how far I’ve come, but also to give back to the cause that helped me through one of the most difficult chapters of my life.

Cancer changed my life, but it also taught me the power of support and determination. This race is a celebration of survival, gratitude, and every step that brought me here.
