My Story…
I’m super excited to be running the Philadelphia Half Marathon with American Association for Cancer Research this fall! As some of you may know, my dad was diagnosed with throat cancer last fall, but thanks to cancer research and the incredible doctors and nurses at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, he’s here and doing well today.
My dad was my (and MANY of my friends’) coach for so many of my sports growing up, and he’s always had a real passion for athletics. He’s the one who taught me what it means to show up, stay disciplined, and most importantly have fun—lessons that have stuck with me far beyond the field. I must have enjoyed it too, because one of my favorite memories is running the Broad Street Run together in 2010.
That’s a big part of why I’m running the Philadelphia Half Marathon with American Association for Cancer Research. As part of the team, I’m fundraising to support life-saving cancer research, something that directly impacted my family. It’s a way to honor him, celebrate how far he’s come, and help make more stories like his possible.
