My Story…

I’m so excited to run the Philadelphia Half Marathon as part of Team Fight Club. We’re a group of friends from Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Indiana who are dedicating the miles we run to advancing cancer research.

Cancer is a thief.
It broke my heart when our dear friends lost their young adult son to melanoma early this year. Both of my husband’s parents fought cancer; they never even got to meet our two awesome children. As a therapy dog volunteer at Riverside Regional Medical Center, I often visit with oncology patients and families who are fighting with everything they have.

I’ve wanted to do something to hit back against the disease that has caused so much pain and heartbreak. When my friend Linda Reilly invited me to join Team Fight Club, I didn’t hesitate.

Why I am supporting AACR
It’s easy to feel helpless as we see cancer steal life, health, and time from the people we love. The good news is that AACR is driving cutting-edge research, accelerating the spread of life-changing discoveries, and advancing our understanding of
cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Every step we take supports their mission to transform lives and bring us closer to a world without cancer.

Join the fight. Every mile I run is dedicated to those fighting cancer and those we’ve lost.  I’ll be carrying their names with me as I run my race in Philadelphia. I’d be honored to carry the names of those who are special to you; please let me know.
