My Story…
Hi, everyone!
Many of you know that my family has been navigating my mother's recent diagnosis of metastatic pancreatic cancer. Although this has been an incredibly difficult and unexpected chapter in our lives, we are taking things one day at a time and holding on to hope.
As a resident physician, I have spent much of my training caring for patients with cancer. But experiencing this diagnosis as a daughter has given me an entirely different perspective. It has reminded me that behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, and countless people hoping for more time with the ones they love.
Throughout this journey, I have learned just how important research is. From understanding treatment options to following emerging therapies and clinical trials, I have seen firsthand how scientific discoveries can offer something invaluable to patients and families: hope.
That's what brings me to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Philadelphia Half Marathon.
I am running to honor my mother, raise awareness, and help support the research that makes tomorrow's treatments and breakthroughs possible. I hope for a future where more families have access to better treatments, more options, and ultimately, more time together. And while I hope we find cures for all cancers, I will selfishly admit that I wouldn't mind pancreatic cancer getting to the front of the line. I think my mother might agree with me on that one!
If you are able, I would be incredibly grateful if you considered making a donation. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps support cancer research and brings us one step closer to better treatments and outcomes. If donating isn't possible, sharing this page or simply spreading awareness means just as much. And if you're in the Philadelphia area, I would love to see some familiar faces cheering me on!
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers, and for all the kindness and encouragement you have shown us.
This run is for my mother, for every family navigating a cancer diagnosis, for the patients still waiting for better treatment options, and for the researchers working tirelessly to make those options possible.
Here's to more research, more breakthroughs, more birthdays, and more time with the people we love.
