My Story…

I am excited to share that I will be running the Falmouth road race this year for the NEADS program. What a privilege it is to run along the beautiful coastal roads of Falmouth, Ma while supporting the incredible NEADS program.

I first learned about the NEADS program a few years ago when a friend got involved as a puppy raiser. So much work goes into training these pups. To see these energetic playful puppies transform into well trained specialized dogs who can turn on lights, detect low blood sugars, or provide balance, or sight, or emotional support and do so many other things, is nothing short of amazing. All of these  successes take time and money. And that’s where we come in!

So, what is NEADS?

The NEADS program is a non profit organization that originated in 1976 with a mission of producing service dogs for individuals with disabilities.

NEADS offers a wide variety of  service dog programs. Their dogs are trained to provide independence for people who have physical disabilities or are deaf, children with have autism or other disabilities, veterans with PTSD, and provide therapeutic assistance in setting like hospitals and classrooms.

How can I help?

NEADS receives little funding from the federal government and really depends on fundraising and private donations to continue to provide the training these dogs need to be successful. I am looking forward to helping them raise money to continue their valuable work!
