RACE TO THE TAPS 2016

~MARATHON EDITION~

Who says a marathon has to be run in one day?

5+6.2+7+8= 26.2

We don’t! Join us for the 2016 EDITION of the Race to the Taps and complete 26.2 miles over the course of four races. The series kicks off on Saturday, April 23rd with a 5 Miler. Increase your running distance as the series progresses and, in the end on October 29th, you will complete the Race to the Taps marathon.

5 Miles

Start with a 5 miler through the streets of downtown Asheville on Saturday, April 23rd. Our host brewery for the series launch is Catawba Brewing on Banks Ave. Race start time at 2pm.

6.2 Miles

Our 2nd race of the series starts and ends at Southern Appalachian Brewery. Take a tour of Hendersonville neighborhoods and greenways with this event on Saturday, June 11th. Race start time at 11 am.

7 Miles

After a summer break we head to Pisgah Brewing on Saturday, September 24th for our third race of the series. This is sure to be a scenic run through the foothills in Black Mountain. Race start time at 2 pm.

4 Miles or 8 Miles

To complete the Race To The Taps Marathon Edition you will have two choices at this final event. Our end of series race will start and end at New Belgium Brewing on the banks of the French Broad River. The course will highlight the parks, greenways and neighborhoods in this area of West Asheville. Race start time at 11 am (8 Miler) and 11:15 am (4 Miler).

If you choose the Race To The Taps 4 mile option at New Belguim, you can still achieve the marathon by completing the additional 4 miles at the Highland Brewing Night Flight on July 9th. All Race to the Taps participants who finish that event will have those 4 miles added to their marathon series milage total.

SERIES SWAG!

We know it’s hard work to finish a marathon. So we’ll treat our series runners to exclusive Race to the Taps Marathon Edition Swag!

We are letting you choose whether or not you want more race t-shirts. If your dresser is over flowing with race shirts choose the no shirt option and save a few $$. If you miss the t-shirt deadline, no worries, you can buy a t-shirt on-site.

All of our Marathon Runners that register for the FULL FOUR RACE SERIES before March 1st will recieve:

A Race to the Taps Marathon Edition bib for each event.
A stainless steel Race to the Taps branded water bottle.
A commemorative sticker from each race to decorate your bottle.
A finishers medal at the completion of the New Belgium race.

In addition to the timed awards, we will also award a “King & Queen of the Taps” at each race for the “most spirit” based on attire and enthusiasm and the M.O.P (Middle of the Pack) award for the runner with the middle time of all runners. These special awards will receive a Race to the Taps knit Freaker beer koozie.

We will reward the best female and male marathoners who “go the distance” with $500 travel voucher from the Asheville Regional Airport! That’s right! Those that sign up for the Race to the Taps Marathon series (and complete our 5, 6.2, 7 and 8 mile runs) will be eligible. We will take the cumulative times from each race and award the Top Marathoner male and female. All awards in the Race to the Taps series are based on gun times.
