Countdown to event
About
In 2024 we are giving riders two options for the race. 1st option is going up Cockeye Creek and the 2nd is going up Mosquito Creek. Both rides are the same distance, but Cockeye Creek is 30 minutes slower for the lead riders and up to 90 minutes slower for the tail end riders.
The last 24km of the race will be the same for everyone, just the first part differs. If you are a seasoned mountain bike rider, do Cockeye Creek, if you are out to enjoy some of the countries best Untamed scenery, then Mosquito Creek is the best option.
With the two options it gives everyone the chance to experience the amazing Untamed West Coast.
Cut Off Time:
The cut off time for both rides is 12:15pm at the top of Maori Creek, the communication check point at approximately 27km. If you do not meet this cut off time, you will need to exit the course and not enter the Dairy Farm portion of the ride at Elephant Road.
Please Note:
A number of roads used for this event are on private land and to access these roads you will require permission from the individual land owners. Some parts of the route may only be accessed by obtaining a "Forest Access Permit" from Ngai Tahu Forest Estates Ltd. The route from year to year may also change due to forestry work in the area. Please refrain from trying to ride the route outside of the event without obtaining the appropriate permissions.
Prize Giving:
This will be 15 minutes after the last competitor has finished - approximately 1:30pm-2:00pm.
