We are opening up registration early with all the requests to get in now before it is sold out. Demand is high with all the publicity we recieved with the 2013 run.
Heroes live amongst us, raise the bar, and make us all better people. This run allows you to say, "I am running for the person who has made a difference in my life." We celebrate the Caregivers of Alzheimer Patients. The pledges and donations raised to benefit the Caregiver Support Programs at the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County.

Dress up as you favourite super hero or villan and make your Hero mark on this race!
This unique event is presented by Libro Credit Union for school age children who will do a virtual marathon and track it on a pledge sheet for the Alzheimer Society. They will raise money and at the same time track their progress of running 41K with parental supervision. So it might be 1K a day over 41 days or how ever this works for your child. They bring the filled out training log form and run the last 1K with us and get a super cool Run For Super Heroes Marathon Medal. You will register your child below at no cost and get the pledge form for a minimum total donation of $50.00. Once that is complete you will get your training log to be filled out. You must register your child before handing in the pledge form so we can make sure we have enough medals for the kids.

Health Expo/Race Kit Pick Up
NO RACE KIT PICKUP THE MORNING OF SUNDAY THE 21st (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Morning)
Health Expo is located at 3295 Meloche St , Amherstburg ON in the LIBRO Credit Union Centre - formerly the United Communities Credit Union Complex (UCCUC)
Friday September 19th, 3pm till 8pm
Saturday September 20th, 10am till 6pm
Race kit must be picked up before Sunday. All races can pick up their packets at the Expo on Friday.
The 5K and Kids runs packages will be able to be picked up before the 5K race starting at 8:00am at the 5K start line 100 Laird Avenue South.
In order to avoid any issues or confusion, it is very importantfor every participant to pick up their own race kit in person.

Canada's most southern Boston Qualifying Marathon
The World Alzheimer's Day 'Run for Heroes' Marathon is Canada's most southern Boston Qualifying Marathon. We are a 'boutique' race because we are small, intimate, with gorgeous scenery, very fast and super flat. Almost 20% of all runners from our Marathon qualified for Boston this year! Hosted in wine country at the mouth of Lake Erie and the Detroit River, Historic Amherstburg offers a real runners experience without the crazy big Marathon shuffle. Amherstburg is a half hour from the Windsor Detroit border with lots of great accommodations in the region, from Bed and Breakfasts to Caesars Windsor.
When we make the claim that we are fast and flat, the proof is in the numbers. 18% of all runners who ran the Marathon in 2012 qualified for Boston in 2013.
51% PB on our course. Trust me you will love this intimate and personal race.

Run For Heroes course has aid stations every 2k with a port-a-john, lots of entertainment and a professional pace group from marathonpacing.com to get you in on time. There are stunning wetlands, long views of the Detroit River and a run through Historic Fort Malden, the epicenter of the War of 1812. We are a boutique Marathon with a great course and we limit it to only 3,000 runners.
Great tech shirt, colourful medal, bib/chip, Photos (Brightroom will be proving the photography that is included in your registration fee) and Pacers are all included. We keep the price low, so you can help raise some funds for Alzheimer's through pledges and giving.
