The race consist of 5 legs that all start and finish at the same place:
Leg 1: Run. Approx. 7.75km
Leg 2: Road Bike. Approx. 27 km.
Leg 3: Run. Approx. 10km.
Leg 4: Mountain Bike. Approx. 20km.
Leg 5: Canoe or Kayak (for all participants). Approx. 6km Competitors can compete in teams of 6 people, 2 people or as solo participants.

- Chiptiming by Ready2Race.
- Race course designed so each leg will start and finish at Brudenell Provincial Park.
- Post event massage therapy sessions will be available this year for relay participants. Amanda Ford, a candidate certified sports Massage Therapist and a registered Massage Therapist will be onsite, set up in the first aid tent with her colleague, Amy Sprague, a registered Massage Therapist, providing “mini-massage therapy” sessions for any participants requiring treatment. There is no charge for the service, however, gratuities will be accepted.
What:
The Red Island Relay consists of 5 legs (4 for double duathlon division). Each leg starts and finishes at the Brudenell Provincial Park Activity Centre.
- Leg 1: Run. Approx. 7.75km (Junior division teams may split)
- Leg 2: Road Bike. Approx. 27 km. (Junior division teams may split)
- Leg 3: Run. Approx. 10km. (Junior division teams may split)
- Leg 4: Mountain Bike. Approx. 20km. (Junior division teams may split)
- Leg 5: Canoe or Kayak. Approx. 6km
- All participants must sign a waiver (Red Island Relay Waiver 2013) prior to the race. Waivers may be returned with ticket money or on race day.
Divisions
- Double Duathlon Division: Run-Bike-Run-Bike – NO WATER / PADDLING LEG. Solo, 2 or 4 person teams.
- Corporate Division: Business sponsored teams – 6 person teams only. Also eligible for Open Division awards.
- Junior Division: Participants must be under the age of 19. Does not apply to Double Duathlon division.
The transition points will be:- LEG 1 Water Station (4.5 km mark)
- LEG 2 Cardigan Liquor Store (13.5 km mark)
- LEG 3 Water Station (5 km mark)
- LEG 4 Cross Brudenell Point Road (RTE #319) (8 km mark)
