RACE TIME: Run/Walk begins promptly at 5:00pm at the West Point Memorial
THE COURSE: The USA Track & Field certified 5K Run/Walk course begins at the West Point Memorial & continues through Elmwood Cemetery, ending at the West Point Memorial. Terrain varies & includes asphalt, grass, & gravel. A map of the course is posted online at www.norfolksocietyforcemeteryconservation.org/from-here-to-eternity-5k with registration information. Run/Walk is professionally timed by the Tidewater Striders Running Club (tidewaterstriders.com).
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS: Elmwood Cemetery is a Victorian era Garden Cemetery. In keeping with this theme, the event features Victorian era “course marshals” & live vignettes of Victorian mourning practices. After party entertainment provided by Janks Norfolk & Cara Isadorable. Victorian era film montages. Awards ceremony & after party take place at The Plot on Granby, 776 Granby Street. After party includes a Victorian era/Steampunk costume contest, a raffle for great prizes, food, drink & fun for all ages! Complimentary shuttle service provided from Elmwood & West Point Cemeteries to The Plot on Granby every 10 minutes beginning at 6:00pm & ending at 9:00pm. Event registration fee includes a finisher medal for each participant, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, and one (1) free beer per participant over age 21. Age is verified upon entry. Security provided.
COSTUMES: Costumes are welcome! Please be respectful.
REGISTRATION: $25 Adults, $15 Children through 9/11/15; $30 Adults, $20 Children 9/12/15 - 9/30/15; $40 Adults, $25 Children 10/1/15 - 10/22/14; Online Registration closes at 9pm on 10/22/15. $50 Adults & $30 Children on event day. Children are age 19 & under for this event.
T-SHIRTS: Are included in registration fee. Sizes guaranteed if registered by 10/15/14. We will make every effort to provide requested sizes for later registrations. T-shirts are short sleeved tech running shirts - adult sizes only: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL.
PARKING: Free at the Cedar Grove Transit Station located in the 200 block of Princess Anne Road, adjacent to the cemetery. Security provided at parking lot and 5K.
AGE DIVISIONS: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 & 70-79.
AWARDS: Top 3 male & female overall & top 3 male & female for each age group above.
EVENT TAKES PLACE RAIN OR SHINE UNLESS SAFETY CONCERNS ARE A FACTOR. NSCC RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL EVENT IF WEATHER PRODUCES AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR PARTICIPANTS & VOLUNTEERS.
