Come out and participate in this fun filled family event and promote reading and a healthy you. The Dean B. Ellis Library of Arkansas State University is hosting a 5K run/walk on Saturday, October 24, 2015, on the A-State campus to benefit the Literacy League. The Literacy League provides free one-on-one tutoring to adults who want to learn to read, write or improve math skills.

Additional Information
- The first 200 registered participants are guaranteed a t-shirt and goody bag.
- Race day registration is available for $30.00 and $25.00 for youth.
- Packet pickup will be Friday (10/23/15) from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday (10/24/15) from 7-8 a.m. in the Dean B. Ellis Library parking lot on the Arkansas State University campus.
- There will be no team registration on the day of the race.
- Costumes, especially literary costumes, are strongly encouraged! In fact, best costume will win a prize. Best costume will be voted on by the race committee.
- The top three female and top three male runners will receive prizes. The top three female and top three male walkers will receive prizes. The top three in each age group over 12 years old receive medallions. Every participant 12 years old and under will receive a book. The top three participants 12 years and under will receive trophies.
- The team with the fastest average time will win a gift card. If the winning team has 8 or less members, each team member will receive a medallion.
- We will also have a raffle drawing for several door prizes.
- In the event of bad weather, we will do everything possible to hold the race at the posted times. However, the safety of all competitors, volunteers and spectators will be our number one priority as all decisions are made. The Race Directors will meet and discuss all options with the Leap for Literacy Committee. The race may be delayed until the bad weather has cleared the area which means no thunder or lightening for a minimum of 30 minutes. If we must cancel the event, we will still hand out packets (T-Shirts, Goody bags etc.). Refunds will NOT be given. Net proceeds will go to the Literacy League. An announcement will be made at the earliest possible time.
