Come celebrate the beginning of summer in the South with a great event on a beautiful course.
This year Loop the Lake is adding a 10K & Half Marathon option.
We'll start & finish right next to the water at the Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club in Cordel, GA. The 5K is a single loop. The 10K & Half Marathon will use the same loop, and then add out and back portion along the shore of the lake. This is the 10th year for the event, and we're really looking forward to something spectacular, with loads of new things.

Event Beneficiary
GraceWay is a non-profit, faith-based, long-term substance abuse/addiction recovery community for women. We provide a spiritual home environment that empowers residents to become productive members of their families and society through intensive application of the Twelve-Step methodology of Alcoholics Anonymous.
We are not a medical facility or hospital, but rather a world-class, long-term recovery residence for women who are serious about recovery.
GraceWay’s mission embraces a divinely–inspired, step-by-step path to recovery. We follow the Akron AA Twelve-Step recovery plan, which is based upon spiritual principles leading to a personal relationship with a loving God of each individual’s understanding.
In addition to maintaining sobriety, women are encouraged to pursue their ongoing education, employment, family responsibilities, dreams and joy-filled lives. Success is measured one woman…one day at a time.
Pacing, Finishing, & Timing
In order to maintain a safe course, the course will officially close at 11:00 am (3.5 hours after race start). Any participants still on the course will need to move to the sidewalks. All participants will be chip timed for the start & finish of the race, as well as 5K & 10K splits for the half marathon.
Course
The 5K course is a single loop inside the Resort & Georgia Veteran's State Park. The 10K & Half marathon will leave the park and follow the roadway along the shores of the lake, making for a beautiful run.
The 1 mile will be an out & back using the 1st portion of the 5K route.
Awards
All Half Marathon & 10K finishers will receive custom finisher medals. Special awards to the top 3 overall men and women, as well as the top 3 overall master's men & women (40 yrs+) in all races. Awards will also be handed out to the top 3 in each 5 year age group starting at 10 & under and going through 75 years & older.
Shirts & Goodies
All participants registered by 6/5 are guaranteed a technical race shirt. Women can choose a women's cut. We'll have plenty of extra's, but registrations after that will be while supplies last.
Water, Aid, & Potties
Water & Gatorade will be located just about the 1.5 mile mark, and approximately every 1 mile thereafter. The Aid station at Mile 6, will have energy gel. There will be several points along the course with port-a-potties, Cooling stations, and some race course friendly snacks.
Course Entertainment
We'll have music, cheering volunteers, and several points along the course to keep your spirits high, and keep your energy up.
Championship & Turkey Trot
All participants will automatically qualify for FREE entry into the Five Star Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. Top finishers will also have the opportunity to earn a spot in the championships to be held on Dec 17, 2016. The number of spots available is based on the total registration...see event website for details.
Additional Registration info
All entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Entries for the 2016 Loop the Lake, will not be deferred to the 2017 event. All 1/2 marathon participants must be able to maintain a 16:00 minute per mile pace. Race registration will close once the maximum field is reached, regardless of the date. Registration over the phone, fax or email will NOT be accepted. All registrations must be done via online or mail in.
Expo & Race Day registrations are welcome for $5 more. Shirts will be available while supplies last.
Event Courtesy Policy
Our events are designed to be fun and for the entire family. With that in mind any competitor, spectator, parent, volunteer, or sponsor, exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct or interfering with the positive, competitive atmosphere of the event will be asked to leave the venue and course immediately with no refunds.
