The Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k & 5k is proud to be support The Sebastian Foundation in 2021
Young people face unprecedented pressures in school, on social media, and in navigating adolescence.
Make your run count and support The Sebastian Foundation & Open Parachute, a program that can help all the kids of Australia address and accept mental health issues before they become problematic. This in school program helps teenagers to cope with the toughest issues they face including bullying, depression, anxiety, addiction, racism, trauma, suicide, abuse, boundaries and consent, peer pressure, isolation and body image.
Every $30 dollars raised in the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 5 and 10K race will allow us to put another child through the program.
Do you want to support young people faced with mental health issues? When you choose The Sebastian Foundation during the registration process your fundraising page will be automatically created.
Why we need your support?
1 in 5 Australians experience a mental or behavioural condition in any year, and over half will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime
1 in 10 teenagers reported they have engaged in self harm
1 in 5 girls aged 16-17 meet the criteria for clinical depression
While a little bit of anxiety is natural and OK, it can become overwhelming to a level that prevents any enjoyment in life
54% of people with mental health issues don't seek any treatment
Suicide is the leading cause of death for young Australians aged between five and 17.
Most schools in NSW are operating with one counsellor per 1,000 students, or at an even worse ratio.
Don’t forget to share your fundraising page to inspire donations and tell your family, friends and colleagues why they should support your cause.
