Run Thru the Hills

Come for the hills. Stay for the party!

The Village of Lake in the Hills will host the Run Thru the Hills (RTTH) 5k Run/Walk, 1 Mile Dog Walk, and Kid's 100-yard Dash to highlight the natural beauty and charm of the hills that surround the four lakes located within the eastern portion of the Village. The race will take participants through one of the McHenry County Scenic Roads, challenging hills surrounded by beautiful forested neighborhoods, views of the lakes, and pass iconic parks such as Turtle Island and Indian Trail Beach. In addition, this year marks the 70th incorporation anniversary of the Village of Lake in the Hills, which will be celebrated at this and other events during 2022.

EVENT PRICING | YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE

All participants under the age of 18 years must have a parent register them
The participant pays processing fees in addition to registration fees

• 5k Run/Walk: $35 until April 1^st ($45) per person
• Bark in the Hills 1-Mile Dog Walk: $20 until April 1^st ($30) | 1 dog & 1 adult companion
• Hop ‘n Trot Kid’s 100 Yard Dash: $15 until April 1st ($20) per person

Provided the event does not sell out, we will accept online registration through packet pickup hours. However, swag bags, shirts, and sizes are not guaranteed for late registrants. You must register before April 1, 2022, to be guaranteed these items. We will order extras but they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cutoff for online registration is Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. or when race registration has reached a total of 400 5k Run/Walk entries, 30 Kid’s Dash entries, or 30 1-Mile Dog Walk entries.

SHIRTS & SWAG GUARANTEE Guaranteed if registered before April 1, 2022

Swag bags, shirts, and sizes are not guaranteed for late registrants. You must register before April 1, 2022, to be guaranteed these items. We will order extras but they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. No size exchanges during race day registration until after the race; sizes will have limited availability.

AWARDS

1-mile Dog Walkers and do Hop n' Trot Kids Race do not receive awards.

Age Group Awards will be given for the top three 5k male and female finishers in each of the age groups:

• Age 14 & Under
• Age 15 - 17
• Age 18-29
• Age 30-39
• Age 40-49
• Age 50-59
• Age 60 & Over

Hop 'n Trot Kid's 100 YD Dash Includes:

DEFERRAL POLICY Last day to defer will be April 9, 2022

If needed you may defer/transfer your registration to a different sub-event or to another individual- No questions asked!

Transfer fees apply and are paid by the participant. The originally registered person will be charged $5.00; the original price paid is only transferrable. Products in the race store are non-transferrable. The cutoff for transfers is Friday, April 8, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. or when race registration has reached a total of 400 5k Run/Walk entries, 30 Kid’s Dash entries, or 30 1-Mile Dog Walk entries.

ONLINE RACE STORE In our race store, you will be able to purchase, additional Post-Race Party Wristbands for friends and family and additional event swag. Race store items are non-transferable.

PACKET PICK-UP available Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 2-5 pm (inside U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lake In The Hills, 81 N Randall Rd, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156) OR Race Day before the start of the race between 9 AM - 9:45 AM. You MAY pick up someone else's packet by giving the packet pick up volunteer the other person's first and last name.

WATER & PERSONAL WATER BOTTLES | RTTH IS ENCOURAGING A CUP-LESS RACE

In order to reduce touchpoints for our volunteers and participants to keep disposable cups out of the Lake in the Hills community, and reduce waste overall we are encouraging participants to go CUP FREE. There will be limited disposable cups provided before/after the event and at the on-course water station.

We encourage all participants to bring and carry their own containers with them during the event. Handheld containers can include a bike bottle, a hand-held running bottle, Camel-bak, a Hydra-Pouch, or any type of non-glass water bottle of your choosing.

RACE DAY INFORMATION

Can I roll through the hills? Strollers are welcome in any of the events offered- however other wheels such as rollerblades, scooters, or roller-skates are not. Walkers and participants with strollers please start in the back of the pack.

Bathrooms: Porta-potties will be available.

COVID: We do encourage participants to practice physical distancing when possible, utilize the hand sanitizers provided and welcome you to bring/wear a mask for use while in close proximity to others prior to and after the race. Course Information - a reminder, this is an OPEN COURSE. This means that there is traffic on the roadways, and participants must yield to traffic at all times.
