The event will be on rain or shine. However, if the weather is EXCEPTIONALLY horrendous immediate notification will posted on the Hatuma Half Marathon Facebook page, followed by updates on Central FM. Listen to 99.4, 105.2 or 106.0 – There is NO POSTPONEMENT DATE.
There are no road closures. All roads are open to normal traffic. There is an approved Traffic Management Plan in place with signage in place warning vehicles of the event.
All participants are to be vigilant in checking and staying aware of their environment, surroundings and involvement with other participants and to conduct themselves in a safe manner, using footpaths where available.
If you see anyone operating in a hazardous or unsafe condition, please report this to the nearest Marshal.
- ALL participants must use the right-hand side of the road for the majority of the course, using the footpath on SH2/Takapau Road.
- All participants must attend the safety briefing prior to their start time and follow instructions included, as well as directions and instructions given by marshals out on the course.
- All Event Volunteers and Marshals will be wearing Hi-Vis safety vests.
- Race numbers must be worn on your front and be visible at all times for easy identification.
Children under 10 years of age MUST have be accompanied by an adult at all times when participating and/or supporting the event.
No animals allowed out on the course or at the event venue.
No cyclists are to accompany participants out on course. Spectator vehicles are not to follow behind or beside participants.
Headphones and personal music devices are discouraged. However should you choose wear headphones please ensure that you are able to still hear marshals and be aware of people and vehicles around you.
At any stage during the event, if you are unable to complete the course for any reason you must report back to the finish line to be ‘signed out’.
Emergency Procedure
In the unlikely event of an emergency, serious injury, incident (natural or manmade) or State Highway traffic diversion, the event will be shut down.
If the decision is made to STOP the event the following procedure will be imposed:
- Marshals will inform participants within their immediate area of the Shut Down
- Everyone to move off the road and assemble in a ‘safe area’ designated by the marshal and remain at their location to await pick up by event transport vehicles.
- Marshals to notify Transport Lead with location and numbers for pick-up and coordinate the return of participants to the venue.
- All participants are required to return to the Racecourse and report to the Finish Line to be ‘signed out’ before leaving the venue and event.
