Cardiac Rehab is a critical part of the recovery process for patients with heart disease or have had a cardiac event.  Until my cardiac event (at 44 years old), I had no idea it existed.  Until I participated, I had no idea of its impact, breadth of its scope or the amount of care that goes into this service.  

 This service provides…

Supervised, EKG monitored exercise starting from simply getting back on your feet, to 30 minutes on elliptical machines!  One on one psychology sessions to help understand and cope with a patients new circumstances.  Cardiac education building awareness and understanding of physiology, symptoms, and medications of heart disease.  Nutrition counselling and education.  Heart healthy exercise training.  Stress management and relaxation training.  Most importantly, it offers community, camaraderie, and sense of achievement.

Sadly, many people do not have the insurance to cover this critical treatment possibly resulting in incomplete or prolonged recovery.

Cupid’s Cup is an opportunity for you and I, as a community, to raise money funding scholarships for cardiac rehabilitation services for those in need.  Speaking from experience, as a cardiac patient and someone with heart disease, this treatment not only benefits the recipient, but inspires us to pay it forward, educate others and pave the road for those coming behind us.

I don't want to forget the official stuff...

All proceeds from the Cupid's Cup 5K go to directly support cardiac rehabilitation programs at Atrium Health Pineville, Atrium Health Union, and Atrium Health SouthPark. Donations are administered by Atrium Health Foundation in Charlotte, NC on behalf of Atrium Health.

Every dollar donated will help to support vital cardiac rehabilitation patient education programs, rehabilitation equipment upgrades and scholarships for patients who can otherwise not afford to participate in rehabilitation following a cardiac event.
