My Story…
Each year I have this great opportunity to honor my moms legacy & participate in this 5k. Running was never really something I did growing up-- well.. unless I was running FROM something or someone. BUT when my mom passed away, the grief I felt all to much to handle. I started walking slowly, then faster, then I started jogging. It was a very slow but very helpful process.
I didn't really keep it up, but when COVID stuck us all indoors and kept us all isolated... it reminded me of my mom and how she was hospitalized for the last 11 months of her life. ELEVEN MONTHS. She spent much of it in isolation. It was brutal. Somehow she smiled... everyday when I showed up at her room, she always looked at me, smiled and said "any day on this side of the earth is a good day baby!" I still don't know how she did it.. but she wore her "Life is good" shirts and keep a positive attitude. Don't get me wrong.. there were bad days, just so few of them.
Well, like i was saying, COVID hit & I started walking again... walking, then jogging, then running... and I started doing 5Ks.. virtual, of course. Although I have slowed down quite a bit again... I am going to do this one.. and i hope you will join me too.
Join the team, or just support my run. I assure you, I am not fast... but I am going the distance.. from a distance! :-) I will get to the finish line.. and would LOVE your help to get there.
