My Story…
My name is Tim, and I'm a first-time race runner looking to use 2023's Pride Run as an opportunity to (1) improve my physical health and (2) support an organization that's near to my heart. Queer Asian Youth (QAY) is a community group for LGBTQ+ youth, run by the Asian Community Aids Services (ACAS). I started participating in QAY events and workshops back in 2016, eventually volunteering for a year to help run workshops around community building and anti-oppression.

QAY was a huge point of growth in my life. Community helped me to grow confidence in myself while both completing a grad degree and navigating therapy after being diagnosed with depression. I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for programs like QAY and ACAS, and it's my hope that, after reading all of this, you consider how important queer community programming is. Personal Goals (WIP)
1. I've currently signed up to finish the race in the second corral—or 5 kilometres in under 30 minutes (fun fact: As of 04/06, I'm completing 5K in ~36 minutes). 😤
2. Host a fundraiser stream on Twitch! Not sure what the activity will be...we'll see I guess. 🤷🏻♂
3. Get out of my comfort zone and join a team! 🥹

I’m participating in the pride & remembrance run!
I need your support, as the run is raising funds for 5 incredible non-profit organizations that are doing amazing work in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The beneficiaries for this year’s run are: Asian Community AIDS Services, Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, the 519, and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation.
It’s fast and easy to donate, and tax receipts will be issued for every donation over $20. Every donation matters, as we try to reach our goal of raising $300,000 this year! The projects and initiatives that these non-profits are developing will make a difference to so many members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and I would be so grateful for your donation.
