My Story…
I’m hoping to raise some funds to Asian Community AIDS Services and Buddies in Bad Times theatre through this run. These are long standing and evolving organizations that have been (and to continue to be) my safe spaces for intergenerational knowledge, connection and expression.
I don’t have a special story about running really. I have been feeling inactive due to the pandemic so I’ve been trying multiple avenues of fitness to get to know my body again. I’m trying to up my running pace and make the 5K under 30 minutes. Nothing too crazy but just trying to believe I can do it is a feat!
This is my first Pride Run. I’d like to remember the ways Toronto has changed since I was a baby queer in the 2010s - commuting from Mississauga into the city, getting to meet new friends in less gentrified Toronto. I’d like to remember the queer spaces we have lost, the grief in their transformation, and the hope that we can build a better new havens for queers in this city together.

I’m participating in the pride & remembrance run!
I need your support, as the run is raising funds for 5 incredible non-profit organizations that are doing amazing work in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The beneficiaries for this year’s run are: Asian Community AIDS Services, Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, the 519, and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation.
It’s fast and easy to donate, and tax receipts will be issued for every donation over $20. Every donation matters, as we try to reach our goal of raising $300,000 this year! The projects and initiatives that these non-profits are developing will make a difference to so many members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and I would be so grateful for your donation.
