Dear Friends,

I am not normally one to solicit donations, as I am sure you all have plenty of causes near and dear to you. For myself, that cause is The Salvation Army – specifically the Gateway Shelter’s Drop-In Program.

This program provides safety, warmth, hot meals and clothing to men and women experiencing poverty and homelessness, as well as sense of community to those that need it most.

Having previously lived just blocks from the shelter, I have seen firsthand the overwhelming need for these services; and not just for those experiencing homelessness, but families who are forced to make the difficult choice between paying rent and buying groceries.

The Santa Shuffle (December 6^th) is an annual fundraising event in support of this great cause. There are two ways to get involved: sign-up to take part at www.santashuffle.ca, or sponsor me in the event and help me reach my fundraising goal of $10,000 (and dethrone last year’s top fundraiser).
