In 1998, I was in a major car accident when a semi truck with a double load of lumber struck my vehicle at a highway intersection after running a red light. I will never forget the quick response of the firefighters, the support of an off-duty police officer who witnessed the accident, and the calm, steady care of the paramedics who brought me to the hospital. Their presence not only ensured my physical safety but also helped my nervous system begin to find balance after such a traumatic event.
First responders are always there for us in our most difficult moments—protecting, supporting, and saving lives. Now, through the 5KM in Their Boots fundraiser, I have the chance to be there for them by contributing to programs that support their mental health and wellness.
This cause is close to my heart, and I would be deeply grateful for your support. Together, we can ensure that first responders receive the same care and compassion they so freely give to us.

This participant has committed to the "5km In Their Boots" fitness challenge fundraising campaign. Your donations directly fund mental health support and suicide prevention programs including the "1st Health for First Responders" health program available for free to all first responders in Alberta.
