 I am excited to share that I’m participating in the Shoppers Drug Mart® Run for Women in support of CMHA- Waterloo Wellington.

 Local women's mental health charities need our help more than ever so that they can continue to provide vital support and care to their community.

I should probably tell you a little bit more about myself  and why this is so important to me and  very dear to my heart. My family has struggled with this issues in the past.

 I remember when I  once had to hold my daughters hands all night while in Toronto on a family vacation.  I woke up in the night to find my daughter trying to cut her wrists and arm with a plastic knife. It is an experience that I will never forget. I ended up staying awake most of the night holding her in my arms and telling her how special she is and listening to her tell me what was bothering her. A lot of women out there do not have someone who can be there for them and support them through this  and for this reason, I am passionate about seeing that women and teens get the help they need in a timely manner. I was fortunate enough to have studied nursing for 3.5 and worked in developmental service for almost 16 years so I  had some tools under my belt to help her (thought I did not have all the answers), but there are so many people out there that feel alone and don’t have that support. 

This event helps raise money to support those organizations that are there for women when they need them most. If you are willing to help, please let me know, but please so not feel pressured into doing something that you can’t manage, however, if you can, I would love for you to support my efforts with a donation to help me achieve my fundraising goal of $500.
